Original Description: "Testa aequivalvis, aequilateralis, tenuissima, subpellucida, rotundata, seriebus radiantibus et concentricis, numerosis squamarum minutarum ornata, mediocriter convexa, radiatim tenuiter striata; auriculae inaequales, antica valvae dextrae infra profunde sinuata, liris quaternis granosis radiata. Longit. 18 mm., alt. 19 mm, diam. 7 mm." (E. A. Smith, 1904)
Additional Description: Shell small, orbicular and semi- translucent. Both valves somewhat convex. Sculpture consisting of radial rows of minute scales and fine concentric lines. Byssal notch well developed. Auricles unequal anterior somewhat larger than posterior. Coloration semi-translucent white. Size: Normal adult size range is 10 to 20 mm.

Found throughout the southwestern Pacific region, the Indian Ocean and the Coral Sea.
Habitat: Deep water, byssally attached to sponges, or on fine muddy and sandy bottoms.
