Shell size typical for genus, adult size up to 12 mm; fusiform, elongate. Suture slightly incised, whorls slightly shouldered. Protoconch paucispiral, -1.5 smooth whorls. Teleoconch of 5.5-6 slightly bulbous whorls. Axial sculpture absent. Spiral sculpture of subsutural incision on first two whorls, becoming shallower and gradually disappearing on second whorl; basal cords ventrally ranging to adapical end of columella. Outer lip thickened with small rim. smooth, bearing continuation of basal cords. Inner lip denticulate, with seven equally spaced denticles; more adapical denticles stronger. Columellar callus thickened. Parietal callus thickened. Columella typically with three, occasionally four, denticles. Siphonal canal short, open, straight. Upper teleoconch whorls yellowish beige to reddish brown in colour, later whorls beige. Teleoconch whorls typically with subsutural band of brown blotches, and pale brown band just below mid-whorl. Protoconch reddish brown, semi-translucent. Aperture and columella off-white. Operculum typical of genus, yellowish-brown, semi-translucent, with terminal nucleus. Holotype height 10.3 mm.

This species differs from others in the genus in the paucispiral protoconch, the single subsutural incision on the first two whorls and the shell colour.
