Description

Oval fan-shaped, anterior auricle much larger than posterior, the latter meeting dorsal margin at 90° angle, compressed, thin-walled, yellow, orange, pink, or purple with whitish zigzags, with ca. 22 radial ribs adorned with concave scales and alternating with weaker riblets; interior glossy, with exterior pattern visible through shell and distinct yellow patch below umbones. North Carolina to Florida, Bermuda, Bahamas, West Indies, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Central America, South America (Suriname, Brazil). Length 13 mm (to 25 mm). Formerly in Chlamys.
