Description

Oval fan-shaped, anterior auricle much larger than posterior and with dorsal margin sharply folded over, compressed, thin-walled, bright yellow flushed with purple toward margin or strongly flushed with dark red, umbonal area near-smooth, remainder of shell with 120-170 weak, finely scaled radial ribs; interior whitish, yellow toward umbones. Florida, Bermuda, Bahamas, West Indies, Gulf of Mexico, South America (Brazil). Length 34 mm (to 70 mm). Formerly in Chlamys.
