Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral zone. It is an ectoparasite of mollusca and polychaetes. It is found in the trottoir too. Distribution: it can be collected all over the Mediterranean. Common enough.
Notes: morphologically this is one of the most variable species of the genus Odostomia and this is proved by the several synonyms assigned to it. Outline oval in form with H/L ratio equal to 2, last whorl is about 70% of total height, whorls a little bit convex. Inside its mouth it is visible one tooth prominent placed rather internally, peristome discontinuous. Protoconch type B (with nucleous external only partially). Growth lines are prosocline. O. carrozzai is a rather similar species. It is recognizable since it has a protoconch larger in sizes, a ratio H/L equal to 2.7 and last whorl which is about 60% of total height. Measures are really variable: as far as adult specimens are concerned, on an average height is 3.5-4 mm.
