Shell average in size for the genus, triangular in shape, thin shelled with about 6,5 whorls. The protoconch is small, smooth and in the same plane as the first whorl. From the first whorl on, appear axial ribs. On the second whorl there are already two spiral ribs that gradually increase in number: they are 5 on the last whorl. Where they cross with the axials, they form smooth knobs. On the last whorl there are about 45 axial ribs. The suture is shallow.
On the periphery a double cord of small knobs, the upper cord being more developed than the lower one. The base is covered with 6 dominant spiral ribs, with strong secondary axials in between. The axial together with the spiral ribs form small square shaped pits. On the umbilical keel 14 well developed knobs. Columella thickened. The aperture is quadrangular in shape, small and narrow. There are 4 teeth inside: one on the columella, two on the base of the aperture and one on the labial side, just behind the posterior notch in the outer lip. A parietal callus is present. The shell has been collected dead but is in fresh condition and completely white.

Differs from V maestratii n. sp. by the slightly larger size combined with a much broader shell. The umbilicus is wider in V. cumingi n. sp. and the axial ribs are stronger and much more developed. V. cumingi n. sp. has about 45 axial ribs on the last whorl, while V. maestratii n. sp. has only about 32.
