Oval fan-shaped, anterior auricle much larger than posterior, compressed with left valve slightly more so, solid, left valve creamy white with large patches of dark maroon to orange, right valve lighter colored, with ca. 18 undercut radial ribs covered by fine radial striae in 18 groups of 3 closely spaced riblets; interior glossy white with exterior pattern visible through shell. Florida, Bahamas, West Indies, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Central America, South America (Colombia, Brazil). Length 16 mm (to 40 mm). Formerly in Chlamys. Compare Caribachlamys sends, which is more evenly colored and has more evenly arranged radial ribs.
