Description

This is a wide mitrid (W/L = 0.37) with spire longer than the aperture (S/L = 0.52) and having straight sides and 5 teleoconch whorls that have convex sides. The dorsal notch is fairly prominent. Sculpture on the body and penultimate whorls is restricted to almost flat spiral cords separated by a moderately deep, relatively wide groove. On the early teleoconch whorls there is a faint axial threads. On the body whorl, the spiral cords continue to the tip of the columella. The protoconch has about 2.5 smooth, convex whorls. The outer lip is thin and modulated by external cords with its anterior curving sharply to the anterior canal. The parietal wall is concave and the columella is straight without spiral folds. The columella tip projects beyond the lip anterior. The callus is narrow, covering external sculpture. The columella is paralleled by the anterior of the lip forming an open, anterior canal about as long as the parietal wall. The shell exterior is white with axial lunate brown blotches. On the body whorl there is a moderately broad white band below the periphery that spirals to the outer lip below its periphery and interrupting the brown blotches.
