Description

The shell is small, with a high apex. Sculpture is of fine radial and concentrie riblets. the color whitish red with red or pink rays, some with chevron-shaped markings of pink. length. 7 mm: width, 6 mm: height. 1.5 mm. Head of the Gulf of California to Panama, on rocks at low tide, more abundant offshore, to depths of 10 in. Superficially this resembles the Californian Acmaca rosacea Carpenter. 186-1. but that species does not show the chevron-shaped markings. Patelloida pustulata (Helbling. 1799) is a related Caribbean species that attains a much larger size.
