Description

The shell is of moderate size, with an elevated sharp spire; the general surface of each whorl is distinctly concave between the angled periphery and the suture. The periphery of the body whorl is acute and bears a single small, projecting, weakly beaded cord, with the coiling of the whorl following just below it so that the peripheral cord remains prominently exposed and elevated above the suture on the larger whorls
of the spire. The surface between the peripheral keel and the suture is flatly depressed and neatly ornamented with about five small beaded spirals of equal size and spacing. The base is nearly flat, bearing several small, adjacent, circular cords, larger and beaded around the middle. Measurements.—Height 13.2 mm, diameter 13.5 mm; holotype. Material Examined.—The holotype, from PILLSBURY Sta. P-556, Gulf of Panama, 7°50.5'N, 78°49'W, 59 m, 8 May 1967. Remarks.—This species resembles C. nepheloide Dall, but differs by its lighter and thinner shell as well as in details of sculpture. It also resembles C. veleroae McLean in shape, but its peripheral keel is narrower, sharper, and bears a single, beaded cord. The color of the dry shell in the collection
is chalky white, but when moistened a pattern is visible
