The species is similar to both Phalaenopsis violacea and Phalaenopsis bellina but Phalaenopsis mentawaiewnsis has a long, rounded rachis up to 20" [50 cm] long, that can reach longer than the tongue shaped, often curled leaves. The species has thin roots as well as significantly larger, brilliantly colored flowers.
