Description

Small chitons, 15-25 mm; valves evenly microgranular, variably colored and patterned, mucro of tail valve about central, post muscronal area slightly concave; gridle leathery appearing; gills extend to beneath suture of valves 2 & 3.
Habitat. Most often found at about 1 m or more above 0.0 tide level, on sides of boulders. Distribution. Prince William Sound, Alaska to to San Luis Obispo County, California. Occurrence. Uncommon to abundant. Comments. Populations of this species show a wide range of colors and patterns.
