An alternative way to contribute vernacular names without using BioLib www interface is to create list of latin and vernacular names in a Excel, OpenOffice or CSV table file and send it to a main administrator.

File must contain column with scientific (latin) name of the species (or any other taxonomic rank). Authorship can be in separate column, part of the latin name, or altogether missing (authorship helps to link correct scientific names to records in imported file). Next column (or even several columns) represent vernacular names each in one language.

Specify the language in each column's header. There are no official codes for languages in BioLib so just make sure that it is clear enough which language you've meant.

One latin name can repeat in the file on multiple rows. The first line is taken as main vernacular name in case it is still missing in BioLib. If vernacular name is already linked to a taxon in BioLib the record is skipped.

Taxa from BioLib are automatically connected by latin name, even through synonyms, so it is not necessary that all names in file are valid. Keep in mind tho that some synonyms can apply to multiple taxa as well as several names can apply to one taxon. It is better if the file contains taxa of one specific group only, for example only plants, or only insects in order to avoid duplications.

Empty rows as well as empty vernaculars are skipped.
