JavaScript is a programming language extending function of static HTML pages, it can be for example used for handling events such as pressing of buttons without reloading the page and so on.

Some old browsers might not support JavaScript, but majority does. Some users have disabled JavaScript because they want higher internet safety. Although there is minimum of JavaScript on BioLib site and most of the functions are working even without JavaScript, it is recommended to have JavaScript enabled for this site (you can set an exception for this site in settings of your browser). JavaScript is used for example for selecting record IDs in various forms or showing extended system information (SHOW INFO function).
