net mapping

Method used in zoology and botany for creating biogeographic maps. Area is divided into squares defined by used method. There are two main types of net mapping methods in Europe:

Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)

orthogonal georaphic coordinate system used for mapping in botany.

Kartierung der Flora Mitteleuropas (KFME)

In Czech Republic most used mapping method. Field's size is 10 minutes East longitude and 6 minutes North latitude. This field is coded by four digits, for example 6670, where "66" is row and "70" is column of the map.
This basic field can be further divided into quarters, marked a,b,c,d.
