Description

Main stem quadrangular or pentangular, branches flat, sometimes 3-winged at tips, spines 2-3mm long. Leaves small, fleshy, early deciduous. Cyathia axillary, above the spines on the margins, peduncles yellowish, involucre saucer shaped, lobes 5, glands 4-5, 4x2mm, fleshy, pale yellow.

Ecology

Evergreen forests.

Distribution

Endemic to southern Western Ghats, India.

Importance

Rare.
