Adults eat very little - they don't live long. But they might feed on tree sap if they find any (especially fermented oak sap, which smells little bit like a beer, so it's only understandable why they like it) or rotten fruit.

Their mandibles are used only for fighting over females, defending and fighting off other insect from the source of oak sap. They don't use it for hunting.

Its larva feed on rotten wood. I am not sure what is the adults food.
