This help is about how to create a list of links on specific site using
composed links function.
List can be created as an CSV, Excel or Open Office file format containing latin names (or localities, glossary terms respectively) in one column and page identifiers in the second column. It is not necessary to provide full URLs, because the external link is composed from a rule and a "dynamic part" of the URL. The file can be sent to some of the site administrators who will import the links.
Site has for example format:
http://www.somesite.com/view.php?taxon=%ID&type=detail
http://www.somesite.com/taxon/%ID.html
where %ID can be either number or text and marks the "dynamic part". The rule in BioLib is then used to create composed links replacing the %ID for the identifier in the composed links table.
If the link format changes but the identifiers remain the same, it is possible only to change the rule and all links on BioLib are changed automatically. Managing and importing of new links is much easier that way. It is also possible to hide all links from one site.
It is not necessary for the site to link back to BioLib (although it is welcome).
